OUR VALUES

Achievement

We achieve to the degree that we overcome the negative. Achievers are willing to pay the price of achievement. They sacrifice, struggle, work on, perhaps alone, weary, and discouraged, and yet at each step overcome the negative.

Belief

Belief is the knowledge that we can do something. It’s the inner feeling that what we undertake, we can accomplish. For the most part, all of us have the ability to look at something and know whether or not we can do it. So in belief, there is power: our eyes are opened; our opportunities become plain; our visions become realities.

Attitude

Our attitude is not determined by circumstances, but by how we respond to circumstances. Our mind determines our attitude. We can respond positively or negatively. It’s how we react to events, not the event themselves, that determines our attitude.

Choice

Our greatest power is the power to choose. We can decide where we are, what we do, and what we think. No one can take the power to choose away from us. It is ours alone. We can do with it what we want to do.

Control

We are in control to the degree that we make the decisions. To affect the outcome of anything, we must control the action at the point of decision making. If we let others make decisions for us, we have no control.

WHAT WE OFFER

Individualised One-on-One

Every student has unique needs, and we respond to those needs differently on every level, from academics to social and life skills. In order to empower them, we aim to teach them basic life skills that will allow them to live a fulfilling life.

Sibling Support

We hold sibling days where we invite students' brothers and sisters to participate in exciting activities together. In our program, we aim to provide them with a safe space to discuss the difficulties they encounter and to offer them practical strategies they can use.

Parent Support

Providing full support to families is one of the ways in which we seek to ensure the well-being of our children. Moreover, we host a variety of events, from social gatherings like picnics and outings to hosting events with keynote speakers to provide families with information to help grow their children into all that they can be.

And Much More…

Vanessa Engelbrecht

Founder

My name is Vanessa Engelbrecht and the Founder of Willow Tree Educo. I attained a Bachelor of Education Degree (Intermediate and Senior Phase), from North West University – Potchefstroom in 2009. I am passionate about engaging and learning from individuals on the autism spectrum, empowering them to understand, accept and express themselves - to find their voice; to explore and discover their true identity and their unique place within our confusing social world.

I have more than 10 years' experience in the educational sector, being a qualified teacher with a Remedial Qualifications majoring in Mathematics and Natural Science. I completed the Facilitator training in 2018 at Neuro Diversity Centre, located in Franschhoek. Having worked with learners that have a wide range of both mental and physical disabilities. This experience has given me a unique understanding of both the need for and value of proper education, while providing adequate support for both autistic children and their immediate family. With specially tailored development and educational guidelines for siblings and other family members to ensure good communication, acceptance, and the necessary life skills to flourish in every social situation.

With every student I work with, great care is taken to connect and work closely with all essential parties involved in their development, for example their occupational or speech therapist ect. I have built and maintain good working relationships with various industry experts in the city, because I am passionate about keeping up to date with the industry, and the latest research & development, providing the absolute best experience for every one of my students.

A Journey of Passion and Purpose
Aletta's journey is one defined by a steadfast commitment to excellence, compassion, and the pursuit of a noble vision. Born and raised in the enchanting little town of Montagu nestled within the Klein Karoo region of South Africa, Aletta's early years were infused with the tranquility and beauty of her surroundings.
From her formative years at Montagu High School, Aletta displayed a keen intellect and a hunger for knowledge. It was during this time that her passion for finance and accounting began to take shape, setting the stage for her future endeavors.
In pursuit of her academic aspirations, Aletta went to study at Stellenbosch University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1994. Equipped with a solid foundation in financial principles, she ventured into the professional world, ready to make her mark.
Aletta's career path has been one marked by versatility and resilience. From navigating the complexities of financial management to embracing the challenges of accounting in diverse industries, she has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt and thrive in ever-changing environments.
In 2001, Aletta and her family found a new home in the picturesque Boland city of Paarl, where they have since woven the fabric of their lives within the community. However, it was not merely in the realm of corporate finance that Aletta's true calling awaited.
An encounter with Vanessa Engelbrecht, who was her son’s teacher at the time, sparked a transformative vision. Together, they envisioned a sanctuary for children grappling with anxiety, a place where academic and emotional growth could intertwine harmoniously. This vision culminated in the founding of Willowtree Educo in 2019, confirmation of Aletta's unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential of every child.
Beyond her professional and philanthropic pursuits, Aletta's life is defined by her unwavering faith and her belief in the power of hope, guided by the belief that with God, there is always a plan and there is always hope. Sonia Laubscher

Teacher

Meet Sonia Laubscher, a dedicated educator whose passion for teaching has spanned over five decades. Born and raised in the picturesque town of Caledon in the Western Cape, Sonia has been deeply rooted in her community her entire life.
With a teaching diploma from the esteemed Cape Town Training College, Sonia embarked on her teaching journey in 1969, shaping young minds with care and dedication. Her teaching career took her to various schools, including Boys Primary, La Rochelle Primary, and Courtrai Primary in Paarl, where she made a lasting impact until 2019.
When her tenure at government schools came to an end, Sonia's unwavering commitment to education led her to a new opportunity at Einstein Academy, where she continued to inspire students until 2022. Retirement beckoned, but Sonia's dedication to making a difference prevailed when she was invited by Miss Engelbrecht to support children exempted from scholastic assessment. Embracing this new challenge wholeheartedly, Sonia found a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment in nurturing these children's growth.
Despite her son residing in New Zealand, Sonia's love for children and her desire to contribute to society only grew stronger. With no close family nearby, she found solace and joy in enriching the lives of others' children, knowing that she continues to make a meaningful impact in her community.
Sonia Laubscher's story is a testament to the enduring power of education and the profound influence of a compassionate teacher. Her unwavering dedication to shaping young lives serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us that even in retirement, the opportunity to make a difference knows no bounds.
